nothing gets by me...

As mentioned previously (not in an interesting way) I was in Southern California a couple of weeks ago. Driving to lunch, I noticed large bleachers set up along several city streets -- without thinking about it, I said "Looks like they're getting ready for a parade here..."

Given that it's almost New Years and we were in Pasadena, this was an exceedingly stupid comment.

Guess if my clients
a) let it pass
b) mocked me unmercifully.

Hint: it's not (a)

still mocking... and letting others here know about it too -- even if they don't know you! (i think it's deserved...) :-)

and not *driving* to lunch but being *lost* on the way to the site (it's important to get the facts right!). i know, it *is* an unusual occurrence for you to be lost...

Could I have three guesses? Don't you just love co-workers that never let anyone forget any faux pas you make? I don't have anyone to do that to me, I'm retired . . well, maybe the wife just a little. :) ec

Be thankful you've got co-workers or clients or friends who are willing to be the kidders and the kiddees. Work life is much easier this way.

mreddie: i was going to say that it's only bryan who is the subject of my mockery but now that i think about it, that's probably not true. though, bryan lets himself be an easy target...and he dishes out as good as he gets!

unca: true statement! bryan does make me laugh (unfortunately for him, he's not always trying to). :-)

CAVEAT: this will barely be related to the post at hand. I use this blog's comment sections to talk about me. It's a noble pastime, you should try talking (nicely) about me, too.

I used to work in Pasadena. I got freaked out my first December in Pasadena with all the bleacherage. At my office, they were letting employees sleep in the sensory gym (it was a children's therapy clinic) since it was a block from the parade routes. I did not partake. I don't like the Rose Parade. Not because I have something against the Rose Parade, but I just hate parades. I always have. I think they're boring and they mess up traffic and TV viewing and I rode my unicycle, did acrobatics, and mediocre juggling over more miles of parade routes in my childhood than I could possibly take.

Clearly you know what I'm not watching on sunday morning.

heatherfeather, I just want to point out that in case you really do want to watch TV on Sunday morning you can go ahead because this year the parade is on Monday. Unless like they do reruns of old parades on Sunday or something.

mreddie's comment of "faux pas-s (what's the plural of faux pas?)" reminded me of one of mine on this same trip -- this should be the last tale from this southern cal trip (yay!).

*my* faux pas actually became about bryan (as it's agreed that all things always end up about him!) :-) we were sitting around a table talking and i was gesturing with my hands, as i'm wont to do. i knocked over my empty glass -- as being a klutz is also something i'm "wont" to be. it hit the edge of the table and broke into many pieces -- right into bryan's lap (actually in a very "vulnerable" area). it was a little dicey there for a while as one can imagine and it didn't help that all i could do was laugh hysterically, though apologizing through my laughter. he asked if i was *trying* to castrate him (or something to that effect...). (if i *had* tried to knock over a glass and have the pieces land in someone's lap, i wouldn't have been able to do it in a million years!) a worker from the hotel had him stand up and shake (gingerly) his pants and she swept up all of the shards. and bryan was none the worse for wear -- as far as i know...

so anyway, not an interesting comment (as usual) but just an addendum that i'm more than capable of commiting many a faux pas myself.

as long as it doesn't interfere with my sleeping late, the rose parade and i are good.
