My siblings and I, we're tight
This week I had a two-day business trip to Orange County, CA.
I have an uncle who lives in the L.A. area, so when I'm in Southern California (almost never) I think about whether I can get together with him and his family. Since he lives quite a distance from where I was this week, it wasn't going to work out, so I forgot about it.
Then my sister called to remind me that (hello-o...) she's now in Riverside, less than an hour from where I was staying. I felt dumb for forgetting that, but luckily she was free and we were able to have dinner together on Thursday night. Yay.
Now, another fact about me is that one of my brothers lives in San Diego (an hour and a half away). You would have thought the call with sis would have sparked a memory of that fact, but actually no. It wasn't until I was standing in the security line at John Wayne airport the next day that I went, "Hey..."
All I can say in my defense is that for 20 years, the LA basin is where my uncle lives -- the sibs being there is just an in-the-last-year thing. So that's why I forgot, it wasn't because I hate them or anything. Very much, anyway. ;-)

well, good try. by the time the pieces connect in your mind, your sibs will have moved on or some such thing, so you may as well just let it go now. :)
glad one connection worked, tho.
um, hello, you're forgetting my mom and sister live about 15 minutes from riverside, and that i have about 34523644623441 aunts, uncles, and cousins who live in la/orange/san diego counties, not to mention the fact that you could have driven out to escondido becaues they've got a big mall there.
what? you think you were down there to "work" and not hang out with my family? :)
Geographical brain farts. I get those! Hey, I didn't know S was in Riverside!!!! I was there this summer and never made contact either. Let her know I miss her wit and stories. Next time I am out that way hopefully my brain won't do what yours did. LOL!

P.S. I didn't think you were trying to sell your silly ass like in a personal ad. (re: post below)
JTSTRS (Just To Set The Record Straight) (is this an email abbrev? if not, it should be.):
i believe that the "dawning" came in the car w/the san diego sign on the freeway as we're going to our last site visit:
bryan: gee, how far away is san diego from oc?
the client who is not directionally challenged: about an hour +.
bryan: oh, could have contacted bro too -- whoops.
FTR, the *directionally challenged* client may have mentioned earlier that it would have been nice to meet the brother along with sis (since he did work on a project for that client at one time). but comment ignored, as usual. :-)
BTW (again), your sister is very nice (her friend too). it was good to meet her. i think the dinner worked out well even tho you had to lie when you told her that your clients are nice. ;-)

i think i was busy that night anyway, so don't worry. :)
seriously, i wasn't even really offended that much. you will pay for your mistake.
sorry, erik. i tried (sort of). because i'm geographically *and* directionally challenged, i didn't realize how near san diego is to the oc (i used to think that san diego was *really* close to la until some of my friends & i drove down there...).
did want to meet the guy behind the blog. if bryan is "unlucky", maybe another time.
I think Uncles should always come before sibling. I mean come on... you spend most of your young life with these people. Isn’t that enough?
I was in San Diego last night, and thought about calling your brother. Then I realized that I don't have his number, and I would have had to call someone in Oregon to get his number, and that seemed like a lot of work for what MIGHT have turned out to be a hour of beer drinking.
BTW, since you finally posted a picture, I see the familial resemblance...
WELL! You were in Southern California and you didn't bother to visit me either!!!
Granted, I don't know you from adam and I'd be highly suspicious of some random blog dude showing up on my doorstep...but I just want you to know that Culver City is only a short hop up the 405 from OC.
Harumph!
By the way...I read your comment on Jay Are's post about ex-girlfriends. Very nice comments...makes my thighs not seem so big. :)
